A collision repair technician is responsible for restoring a vehicle to pre accident condition. Technicians are required to have many different sets of skills in order to repair a damaged vehicle. These skills include knowledge of, various tools, metal straightening, welding, sanding, refinishing, electrical components, engines and suspensions. A collision repair technician is a "jack of all trades"
While no formal schooling is required, those applicants that have went through a collision repair/auto body program are more likely to receive employment and a significant higher starting wage.
